Bio
"I'm sick of chasing my dreams, man. I'm just gonna ask them where they're going and hook up with them later." -- Hedberg

I am the Heart; and the Snake is entwined
About the invisible core of the mind. -- Liber LXV

"A heathen, conceivably, but not, I hope, an unenlightened one." -- Lord Summerisle

Born in Liverpool, grew up on the Wirral, went to Manchester university, did an English degree, then hung around Manchester for about another seven years doing stuff like market trading, hair wraps, making vegan chocolate, delivering organic vegetables by bicycle, being a circus performer with Dogs of Heaven, and running a pagan bookshop. Moved to Wales, worked again in a variety of fields from washer-upper to microwave-oven-assembler, Mac Operator, stage technician, Mac Operator/Copywriter again, sales & marketing manager for a roleplaying games publisher, then -- finally -- what seemed to be my dream job, full-time writer for another RPG publisher, Mongoose Publishing. I lasted 18 months there. For over 4 years after that, I had a portfolio of jobs: freelancing as an RPG writer, editor, & consultant; working on various projects of my own; occasionally working at the local library; and some research work. As of now (2008) I am a full-time manager at one of the companies that used to be one of my favourite clients, when I was a freelancer. I'm still doing bits and pieces of freelancing, but am in the lovely position of being able to pick and choose which bits.

Currently living with awesome wife bridiep, our nine-year-old son Kyle, our dog Nuala and our cats Hekitty, Timogen & Orlando. Polyamorous, but not really actively looking right now due to lack of time. Still pagan, anarchist, eco-activist etc but not enormously active in any of the above fields due to lack of time. Still enjoy going to gigs and clubs but, you've guessed it. . .

I have finally found time to do a bit more martial arts stuff recently though -- right now, judo once a week, and Thai boxing once a week. Every so often I try to get along to train at Primal, with Steve Morris of Morris No Holds Barred.

"Conquer thyself, till thou has done this, thou art but a slave; for it is almost as well to be subjected to another's appetite as to thine own."
-- Sir Richard F. Burton

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." -- Einstein

"D&D, in the popular imagination, is for geeks, the nerds, the unpopular kids at school, the ones whose mothers fed them in their bedrooms, otherwise they wouldn't eat: losers, fit only to be sneered at by the cool kids.

"But the geeks are now running the world, while the cool kids are sitting in vast fluorescent hangars in post-industrial hardship zones, calling you on behalf of Capital One in connection with your account; or wondering if you'd like fries with that." -- The Independent

"I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom's realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer's Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live, let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content."
-- Robert E. Howard, _Queen of the Black Coast_, 1934
